For the patient and attentive documentation which accompanies each of his works. The extremely vivid ability, perfected over time, of narrating by seizing with fervent precision the stimulus and echoes of texts.
(Andersen prize 2011)

Softly warm shades and painting, an amazing force of invention with an uncommon predisposition for story telling, these are the main characteristics of an artist who moves with absolute mastery in the world of colours, where his figures clearly stand out, but at the same time take on quasi tridimensional aspects.
(Walter Fochesato)

When I was little, my father would design planes for my brothers and myself , and our “American aunt” had gifted us our portraits on huge sheets of paper………. which definitely must have had some influence on me….. I was always drawing and my brothers and I would think up and draw abstruse cartoons. When I think of the illustrations from my childhood and adolescence, what comes to mind is an exhaustive though not exactly chronological list : colourful illustrations of underwater life, famous illustrators from Italy and elsewhere, Pinter, Mulazzani, Toppi, Thole, Hogart, Manning; comics in “il Corriere dei Piccoli” and “dei Ragazzi”, Alter Linus, Marvel comics, and Metal Hurlant; renaissance painting, Hopper, NC Wyeth, Pyle, Rockwell and Holland; Disney, Chuck Jones, Bozzetto. Kubrick, who dazzled me when I was nine, Hitchcock, Welles and cinema in general. I thought I’d become a cartoonist and for years I drew only in black and white. After studying the classics in high school, art school introduced me to colours, and from then on I haven’t stopped experimenting with diverse expressive possibilities through traditional and digital techniques.

Since 2019 Artistic Director of the Milan office of the International School of Comics, and coordinator of the Illustration course.
